
The Western Australian Youth Orchestra (WAYO) is the Association's premier ensemble. Recognised as one of the finest youth orchestras in Australia, it features some of the State's most talented young musicians.
Since being founded in 1974, WAYO alumni now occupy significant positions in every major orchestra in Australia. With up to 100 players, WAYO is able to perform the finest in large-scale symphonic works.
Each year usually features three major performances at the Perth Concert Hall, including a special July International Conductor season, a large-scale family outdoor concert at Burswood Park and a series of the ever-popular Babies Proms educational concerts for kids.
In 2012 WAYO performed three seasons in the Perth Concert Hall, at Burwood Theatre and outdoors at Burswood Park with conductors Peter Moore, Ennio Morricone and Vladimir Verbitsky. Repertoire included major works by Mahler, Rachmaninov and Shostakovich, as well as popular classics and iconic film scores.
Under the direction of eminent Music Director, Peter Moore OAM and an special international guest conductor for the July season, 2013 is shaping up to be another exciting year!
