Since its inception in 2004, the Western Australian Symphonic Youth Band (WAYSB) provides an outstanding opportunity for young woodwind, brass and percussion musicians to develop their musical and ensemble skills.
Repertoire includes a wide variety of classic and contemporary symphonic band repertoire, and provides a great opportunity to perform music outside the normal orchestral works.
In 2012 the Symphonic Band was conducted by leading band specialist Alan Lourens, performed at Winthrop Hall and the Perth Concert Hall. The Symphonic Band also competed in the WA Bands Festical in 2009 and 2010, winning its division.
